Itinerary 3

Shimla Manali tour package from Delhi

Day 1: Delhi to Shimla The Calm Journey Begins

You will want to start early from Delhi either a comfy Volvo bus or a private car (both options have their charm). The drive is about 7-8 hours, winding through lush green hills that start to hint at mountain magic. Make sure you have packed some snacks and a bottle of water because the roads can get twisty, and the views, honestly, demand a few pit stops.

Once you reach Shimla, check into a cozy guesthouse or a quaint cafe-style hotel in the Lower Bazaar area. It is lively but not too hectic a perfect spot to start soaking in the town vibe. After settling in, take a gentle stroll on the Mall Road. The air here? Crisp with pine and a hint of earthiness, a refreshing contrast to Delhi usual hustle.

Treat yourself to some piping hot chaat from a local vendor on the Mall. I remember the burst of tangy tamarind with subtle spice that left me craving for more. Catch the sunset from the Ridge  it paints the hills golden and is just chefs kiss. Do not miss the Christ Church, a charming old landmark, especially lovely when lit up at dusk.

Tip: Shimla can get chilly in the evening, even in summer. Carry a light jacket.

Day 2: Shimla  The Old and The Quaint

Start your day with a visit to Jakhoo Temple perched high with panoramic views if you are lucky, you will get cheeky monkeys greeting you! The climb might leave you a little breathless, but the peaceful surroundings and fresh mountain air make it worthwhile.

Then, slide down to explore the Viceregal Lodge. It is more than just a beautiful colonial building; it is  a slice of Indias history wrapped in sprawling gardens. What really stuck was the hush inside the old library perfect for a quiet moment.

Lunch at a local dhaba is a must-try. The siddu (a kind of Himachali bread) and madra (a lentil curry) really hit the spot. Not some fancy fare, but genuine homestyle comfort food.

Afternoon is perfect for wandering in Lakkar Bazaar, a wooden crafts market. Its festive and chaotic but in a way that makes you want to keep exploring every nook. Pick up some souvenirs wooden toys or hand-carved trinkets.

Wrap up with a cozy cafe around Mall Road. I found a little place with an honest cup of Himachali tea that was not trying too hard but tasted just right.

Day 3: Shimla to Manali Scenic Route and New Vibes

Set off early for Manali this drive is a whole different kind of scenic. You will pass through pine forests, apple orchards, and quaint villages keeps your camera busy. Some parts of the road can be a bit rough but just breathe in that mountain air, and it feels like flying slow.

Once you hit Manali, hotel or homestay near Old Manali is the way to go. It is laid-back and has that hippie, artistic vibe without the craziness of a big city.

Post arrival, grab lunch at one of the local cafes. There is an amazing momo joint just off the main street that caught me by surprise  juicy, spicy, delightful.

Roam around Old Manalis main street, checking out little boutiques and the smell of incense mixing with fresh brewed coffee from hip cafes. If you have energy, stroll to the nearby Manu Temple. It is quiet and a nice cultural touch.

Evening chill? Head to a riverside spot just below Old Manali. The sound of rushing water against the cool mountain air trust me, pure soul-soothing.

Day 4: Manali Exploration Nature and Adventure

Get outdoors today! First stop, Solang Valley if you are visiting in winter, it is all about skiing, but in summer, you can try paragliding or just relax while watching others fly. The valley smells like fresh grass and wildflowers imagine a sweet perfume carried by the breeze.

Next, visit the Hidimba Devi Temple a peaceful little spot nestled in cedar trees. The temples carved wood and stonework are stunningly intricate. It felt like stepping back in time.

For lunch, a local cafe serving trout (freshwater fish) was a delightful surprise the flavors were delicate but satisfying.

Afternoon, if you are up for it, a short trek to Jogini Falls is refreshing. The path is a mix of mossy stones and wildflowers, with the misty spray of the falls a natural cool-down.

Evenings perfect for wandering around Manali Market colors, lights, street food stalls (the apple cider here is a local favorite), and laughter floating through the air.

Day 5: Leisure and Hidden Gems in Manali

Take it slow this morning. Visit the Tibetan Monastery quiet, meditative, with monks going about their rituals. The smell of incense and chanting set a calm, reflective tone.

Then, explore the hidden village of Vashisht, famous for hot springs. The small bath feels earthy and healing great for soaking away any travel fatigue.

For a late lunch, find a rooftop cafe in Old Manali with views of the mountains. I had a simple thali that turned out to be one of the best meals of the trip comforting, fresh, and made with love.

Spend your afternoon browsing art galleries or picking up handwoven woollens. The village is a treasure trove for unique finds.

Your last night in Manali calls for a quiet moment by the river or a nightcap at a cozy cafe with live music if you are in the mood.

Day 6: Manali to Delhi  Homeward Bound

The trips winding down today. You will want to leave pretty early to beat traffic and catch the best light on the way down.

If time allows, stop at Kullu on the way its markets brim with handicrafts and spices. Even a quick walk around town is worth it for its vibrant street life and that mountain charm lingering in the air.

Driving back, reflect on the cool air, the winding roads, and the fresh flavors you have tasted. I remember feeling a mix of satisfaction and a little sadness that such a beautiful place needed to be left behind for now.
